Classic Image Dance Interview with Devin Moss

devin mossDevin Moss, Owner and Director of Classic Image Dance conveniently located in Chandler, Arizona, describes her studio as a positive, friendly, family oriented studio which provides excellent training for dancers and even better life skills for young people.

Classic Image provides quality and professional dance instruction to all types of dancers in a positive and friendly atmosphere. Their dance classes create well-rounded dancers with poise, confidence, discipline, physical strength and endurance. They offer group classes and private lessons from beginners to advanced, including Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Tumbling, Pointe, Cecchetti, Combo classes, Stretch, Turns and Leaps, and seven amazing performing groups.

Devin believes Classic Image is different because they truly care about building better people through dance.  Coaching and mentoring are important aspects of their training, not just teaching dance steps and choreography.

She has had many, many proud moments coaching.  Most recently, it was when she received a letter from a recreational student’s parent explaining how Classic Image studio had changed her autistic daughter’s life.  The student had been severely depressed and even suicidal, moved to a new city to start fresh, and found a new place to love and be herself in Class Image Dance.

Devin also feels extremely proud in this later stage of owning a studio (after 25 years), when a former student brings their own child into the studio to take class.  It tells her how much the experience meant to them, and that they want their child to have the same positive experience.  It speaks volumes.

ballet dancersDevin believes the biggest mistakes she sees dancers make is definitely moving too fast!  So many dancers skip through the basics and do not have a real understanding or grasp of fundamentals of technique, and then end up injured or unable to perform adequately as a result.  She advises students, “Listen to your teachers, respect their knowledge, and know that they have your best interest at heart.”

Her goals this year are the same as they have been for the last 24 years – to provide a positive and healthy environment for dancers to excel, thrive and feel at home.  When she refers to “dancers,” she is referring to students and instructors alike. They are all part of the CID family!

Devin opened the studio over twenty years ago. She is an expert in both jazz and ballet and wanted to teach the art of dance and the value of it to both children and adults. Her efforts have taken Classic Image Dance to compete in major dance venues all over the country, both locally and nationally.

She loved the studio that she grew up in.  She would not have traded that place for any other place in the world.  She wanted other dancers to have a place they felt that way about.  She hopes she has succeeded.

Over the years, Classic Image Dance has attracted thousands of dancers from throughout Arizona. Students have enjoyed the opportunity to learn from the best instructors in the Valley and to experience dance on another level.

dancersIn 2008, Devin opened up her beautiful new studio in Chandler, Arizona. The facility of almost 7,000 square feet includes four separate studios that include parent viewing areas, dressing rooms and a snack bar. She employs a team of 11 teachers, has an enrollment of hundreds of students, and in addition to private lessons and team rehearsals she conducts over 75 classes each week.

At Classic Image, they train lovely and strong dancers, but they still believe dance should be fun. “Anything you dedicate yourself to for even an hour a week, should be something you truly enjoy!” They believe it is important that all of their students feel a connection to dance and their studio, regardless of age, skill, or level of commitment.  Dance is for everyone!
