Future Dance Center Interview with Denise and Gino Vaccaro

gino and denise vaccaroAccording to Denise and Gino Vaccaro, the Owners and Directors of the award winning Future Dance Center in Hamburg, New York, they are a family! Gino and Denise feel truly blessed to be given the opportunity to guide and mold young dancers. A job they take very seriously.  Living in Hollywood helped them to know what tools a dancer needs to have a professional career.

In Gino’s opinion, they give ALL dancers the skill set and knowledge to dance professionally in the industry. Future Dance strives to create individual artists. They offer classes in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Choreography, Strength and Conditioning, Contemporary, Salsa, Breakin’, Boy’s Club, Mommie and Me, Preschool.

Gino says he has had so many “proudest moments” coaching because they are always proud of the kids. They have had some great success stories coming out of their studio and they are proud of their many, many present and former students who have accomplished so much. Their alumni and current students have danced on the Oscar Awards, Emmy Awards, TV Land Awards, Kid’s Choice Awards; toured with Janet Jackson, Chris Brown and Rihanna; had featured dance roles in a number of movies, have recurring roles on television programs such as The Fosters; danced on MTV, So You Think You Can Dance, and Dancing with the Stars; performed with Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Brittany Spears, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Kesha, and Danity Kane; won Free Styler of the Year at Tremain Dance Nationals and performed with the Tremaine Performance Company; and signed with talent agencies. The most recent moment would be their former student Allison Buczkowski booking the Janet Jackson World Tour. What is most exciting to Gino is the passion these former and current students have for dance. Gino says he cannot wait to see what the future holds for them all and for the world to see what they can bring to the table.

According to Gino, when dancers do not know their history, it is a huge mistake. He believes it is always best to study all the greats, both past and current. Additionally, they should NEVER limit themselves.

After living in Los Angeles for several years Denise and Gino both realized how much they missed teaching. Twenty years later there they are! They named their studio “The Future” because they believe the kids are the future of not only dance but also the world!!

The Future’s award winning Company, The Next Generation, has five different dance teams based on age. Gino and Denise feel it is truly important for dancers to go beyond WNY and have other experiences including learning from other teachers, dancers and choreographers and whatever else is out there. As a result, their Company traveled extensively learning from teachers like Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaela, Jeff Amsden, Brian Friedman, Joe Tremaine, Marty Dew and many other teachers. Also, this Gino and Denise treated their students to an amazing group of guest teachers and choreographers. Teachers and choreographers like Wade Robson, Anthony Thomas and Charles Klapow. Gino and Denise believe It was a privilege to be able to bring in such incredible artists to share their passion for dance with their students.

This past year, they were contacted by Gil Duldalao, the director and choreographer for Janet Jackson, who asked if their Company dancers could dance in a salute for Michael Jackson on the MTV awards. Because of budget constraints, the Company was unable to perform. Nevertheless, they felt that it was an unbelievable honor to be asked! Later, they were invited to attend the award show as guests of Janet Jackson!

Three times in the last five years, The Future’s Company was awarded top honors at the Tremaine Nationals and named the “Best In Show.” The event was judged by a panel of guest celebrities including Paula Abdul, Ben Vereen, Chita Rivera, Christi;na Applegate, Liza Minelli, Monique Coleman, Mitsy Gaynor and Nigel Lithgoew from So You Think You Can Dance. Nigel Lithgoew and the Director Barry Lather chose The Future’s Teen Company as the “Performance of the Year.”
