Studio Bleu Interview With Kimberly Rishi

Kimberly Rishi attributes Studio Bleu’s success to her incredible staff. It’s important that your instructors are well trained in all styles and that they are able to communicate the proper technique to their students.  An added bonus is that we have respectful, hard-working kids who are

image (2)eager to learn and anxious to please.  Something that separates Studio Bleu from other studios is that even though the majority of training is done in a group setting, Kimberly’s primary objective is to help each student achieve his or her own personal goals.

Kimberly believes that it is important for dancers to be exposed to all forms of dance and techniques.  She takes great pride in offering frequent master classes, guest teachers and workshops.  This, she believes, gives her dancers an advantage at auditions.  She must be right, because you can find Studio Bleu students in some of the world’s most prestigious summer intensives, dance companies, colleges, Broadway and off Broadway shows, tv shows and commercials and dancing with legends such as Debbie Allen and Misty Copeland.

Kimberly promotes a close family like atmosphere at Studio Bleu.  Although the students are often competing against each other, they are always supportive of their fellow dancers and happy for whoever comes out on top!  The Bleu family is so closeimage, in fact, that former students are always dropping in to visit, take/teach classes, fill in for a competition or just get a quick hug.  It is a joy to see Bleu students grow into successful young adults, but it is truly heart-warming that they never forget where they came from.

Owning a dance studio was not something Kimberly had imagined herself doing.  “It’s sort of funny, “ says Rishi, ‘I offered to take over for a year as the previous owner was retiring.  I fell in love with the kids and my staff and was hooked. I honestly couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else”.

Kimberly believes that there is a place for everyone at Studio Bleu.  From classical ballet to hip hop, to tap and acrobatics, Bleu offers classes for you to express your own self and style.  For the two year old whimage (3)o dreams of being a ballet process to the adult who is looking for a little exercise or just cross something off a bucket list, Studio Bleu’s doors are open and waiting for dancers to step through and have their world enriched.  Studio Bleu welcomes the student who simply enjoys the art of dance for creative recreation and the student who wishes to train or compete at the highest levels.  Goals and ambitions are what matters to the staff at Studio Bleu, and they are there to guide dancers on their journey.  The seasoned staff is there to take a dancer from their first steps to as far as your feet can take you!

The main goal in 2017 for Studio Bleu is to continue training students with love and kindness. They also hope to use their knowledge and talents to give back to the community. Students perform for different events and help raise awarenesimage (1)s and money for pediatric cancer research.  The studio was the first to hold an annual dance marathon sponsored byiDance4aCURE.com which has spread throughout the country, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer research.

The training and life lessons learned at Studio Bleu are invaluable and the reputation has reached far beyond the East Coast.  “Being known as one of the top studios in the country is an honor” states Kimberly, “but the kind and supportive reputation of my kids and seeing them succeed in all aspects of their lives is more than I could hope for”.

  1. the 2013-2014 season was our first year at studio bleu. miss kim really does ask what your child’s goals are and she does everything in her power to help your child reach those goals….this is unheard of in the competition world. my daughter had been competing for 10 years, and her outside options had always been very restricted and controlled by her previous environment. this was not the case at studio bleu. my daughter’s goal for the year was so slow down on the competition stage but increase her attendance to conventions and other outside opportunities. miss kim helped us find opportunities, and encouraged us to take advantage of every opportunity that came our way. we had an amazing 1st year full of opportunities that most dancers only dream of and we are excited to see what comes our way in year 2.

  2. Studio bleu is the best studio and Kim is someone to be admired. Having been a dance mom and raised a dancer who went on to make dance her career she has much to offer her students as well as her teachers. Every student and teacher are given equal opportunities to grow and accomplish their individual goals!

  3. Ms. Kim and the Studio Bleu staff are simply the best. We drive over and hour one way just to be a part of this team and I can tell you that it is well worth the drive
