Michelle ContemporaryKinetics Dance Theatre, School of Contemporary Dance (KDT) in Ellicott City, Maryland, is a non-profit organization devoted to the development of contemporary dance as a vital art form within the community through performance, education, and outreach.  They offer dance classes for all ages and abilities, making dance as accessible to their community as possible.  They offer a nurturing environment where all are welcome and strive to offer sound technique alongside artistry.

Kinetics Dance has a wide range of dance classes to choose from, including Ballet, Creative Dance, Modern Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Tap, Repertory, Musical Theatre, Special Needs Classes, Choreography, Dance Improvisation & Partnering and Boys Dance Classes (Movement, Rhythm & Moves, and Hip Hop). They offer versions of most of these classes that are tailored for the very youngest dancers. Additionally, they offer Adult Dance Classes (Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap and Bollywood). Whether the adult student is a beginner, studied years ago, or is taking classes currently, there are classes available for them. Encore Dance Center Interview with Jaime Popard

Recital 1Established in 1998, Encore Dance Center (“EDC”) in Virginia Beach, Virginia, prides itself on being the best studio in the Hampton Roads area.  The studio offers professional, dedicated, and qualified instructors in a State of the Art Facility.
From a child’s first dance class to their graduation year and beyond, Encore has something for everyone.

In the opinion of Jaime Popard, Studio Director, Encore consistently remains a step ahead of other dance studios in an ever-changing dance world.  The studio offers both competitive, pre-professional and recreational opportunities for ages 2 through Adult in all levels.  Offering the best student/teacher ratio around allows the students to have individual attention and growth.

Jaime’s proudest moments coaching occur when she watches a beginner class work extremely hard, earning them several competition awards throughout the year.  The consistent progress is what makes her a proud instructor.

The biggest mistakes Jaime sees dancers make would have to be not applying corrections over time.  When a correction is given, it is because the instructor knows that it is fixable and wants to see the effort made by the dancer so that the correction does not have to continue to be given each week. Performance

Female DancersAmanda Allyne, Studio Owner and Artistic Director, describes High Definition Dance’s studio as a second home to their dancers.  High Definition Dance (“HDD”) in New Windsor, New York, is a child friendly environment that nurtures the inner spirit and provides a strong dance education. They aim to give their students the necessary resources to reach their potential and to achieve the unthinkable! High Definition offers classes in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Fosse Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acro, Boys dance classes in Ballet and Hip Hop, Leaps & Turns, Combo Classes, Adult dance classes, Competition Dance, Glee and Voice. They also have private lessons and birthday parties available.

Broadway Bound Dance Center Interview with Kim Helfrich

Kim HelfrichBroadway Bound Dance Center (BBDC) has been in operation in Lebanon, Hunterdon County, New Jersey for 19 years. They offer instruction for ages 2 through adult in all areas of dance beginner thru advanced; recreational dance classes and a competition dance team called “The Force” for the more experienced dancer. They provide a friendly atmosphere, and their students get a sense of accomplishment when they are dancing.

BBDC provides dance training for students of all ages.  Their objective is to develop technical training with an emphasis on creativity, musicality, artistry, flexibility, quality of movement and performance.  They offer classes for all levels – from beginning students to dancers who hope to pursue a career in the performing arts.

Broadway Bound is dedicated to finding and exceeding each student’s goals and potential in dance. Whether the student is taking a single class for fun and/or exercise, or trying to get into the college dance program of their dreams, Broadway Bound is there to support them. BBDC is considered a large studio because they run over 100 classes a week. Consequently, there is something for everyone. Membership in Intensive, Core and Team programs are by audition only. Dance Exploration, LLC Interview with Jessica Clayton

According to Jessica Clayton, the Director of Dance Exploration, LLC, in Colorado, Dance Exploration Kids Dance Classis leaping and jumping into local schools across Denver and surrounding metro areas teaching their one of a kind Dance to Learn!™ Curriculum. Their curriculum is designed to teach the whole child. With segments of class focused on Learning, Discovery, Expression, Acceptance and Movement they have created 5 Methods of Dance™ that are sure to compliment any classroom and enhance the students’ overall learning experience!

In Jessica’s opinion their dance studio differs from other dance studios mainly because of the fact that they are not a dance studio in the traditional sense, but rather an after school dance program and mobile studio that travels to many different locations including schools, day care centers, wellness centers, fitness centers, play gyms, libraries, museums and parks!

Dance Exploration’s educational after school program was founded in 2008 by Jessica Clayton, as a mobile dance studio reaching children in Jefferson County schools and day cares. Word spread about the fun, entertaining and educational experience that was being shared with children across the state and by 2014 Dance Exploration had reached its 100th location and had brought dance to nearly 2,000 children around Jefferson County, (more…)
