The Best Dance Bra – The Convertible Bra

Here we are going to show you different ways you can use a Convertible Bra.

Supplies:

  1. Convertible bra
  2. Thread optional
  3. Scissors optional
  4. Broach optional

Directions:

Obviously, the first way you can use the bra just the way it comes with the strap straight up in front and straight down in the back. Other options are listed below:

  1. Arranging Straps in the Front

You also have the option of cinching up the bra at the center in the front by using the little strap that comes with the bra. Create the illusion of two cups by threading the strap behind the center of the bra and tying the strap in a bow in the front center of the bra. You can change the look of the neckline, the “cups” and the center of the bra just by tying the strap tighter or looser. You could leave it in a bow or just knot it and cut off the ends. The material will not fray. Either way, you could hide the knot by tucking it inside the bra where it will not show. Obviously, if you tie it in knot and cut it, you will not be able to use the strap in other ways. Whatever you do, make sure that the lining does not show. You may have to manipulate the lining a little bit by moving it inside the bra.

Next, instead of leaving the straps straight, you could untie the straps and pull them both to one side. You could also cross the straps over the front. If you cross the straps, you have the option of letting them cross in the mile or making the straps meet off center. Also, some girls do not like the straps to intersect too high towards their neck so you may want the straps to cross a little lower than they would by themselves. Whether you are having them cross off to one side or if you want them to cross a little lower than if they were left on their own, you would most likely want to fix them so they stay in place. To keep them in place, you could tie a knot, sew them down, or use a broach where they meet to keep them in place. If you sew them down, it would be more difficult to change the look later.

You could twist the straps as you bring them to one side. You could also bring one strap straight up and pull the second strap in front and over to the other side to meet the first strap on the other shoulder creating a keyhole effect. You would then want to fasten the straps together by tying a knot, sewing them together, or using a broach or something of that nature – especially if you want the straps to cross in the same place every time you take it on and off. There is also the option to twist the straps to give it a different look. You would definitely want to tack the straps together, knot them or use a broach to keep them together if you choose this option.

  1. Arranging Straps in the Back

Now, we come to the back. However you arrange the straps in the front, you will want to make sure that they are taut. Depending on the way you have addressed the front, you will have the option of the straps being together on one side of the neck or one on each side of the neck. If you do not feel comfortable with the straps loose, feel free to tack them together. If you are going to take the bra on and off, especially if you have quick changes, it is wise to knot the straps or tack them together. Just make sure you will be able to get the bra on and off easily. If you do not like the strings hanging loose, you can knot them up and just tack them under the back of the bra. You could sew those ends to the back of the bra if you wish and even cut them short if you wish. If you do that, though, they will be in that configuration permanently.

In the demonstration, there is a piece of elastic that is fed through the loops in the back of the bra keeping the bra together around the dancer’s body. Since that is not really strong enough to keep the bra together, you will either have to feed the ends of the straps or use the small strap that comes with the bra and feed it through the loops at the back of the bra. Otherwise, the bra just falls off. The easiest way to do that is by using a safety pin. Pin the safety to the end of the strap and feed it through the loops. Of course, if you use the small strap that comes with the bra in the front of the bra, you will not have it available to tie in the back. If you wish, you could cut that little tie in half and use half in the front and half in the back.

If you decide to use the long straps to feed through the loops and tie the back together, there are a number of ways that you could configure the straps in the back. You could bring the straps straight down the back, feed them through the loops and then tie them in a back. You could cross the straps and then bring them down and feed them through the little loops. You could cross the straps and then twist them straight down the back. The twisting could start up at the neck or you could start the twisting down lower on the back and then feed them through the loops and tie off the ends. Either way, you will want to tack them together where you start twisting the straps. They will move around otherwise. If it is just “tack” them together, you will be able to remove that tacking later. Again, when you feed these longer straps through the loops, it will be easier if you use a safety pin at the end of the strap to feed them through.

Whether the straps are coming down the back from each side of the neck or both are coming from the same side, it is basically the same idea. You could twist the ties where they come together at the back of the shoulder and then separate the straps as they get close to the loops at the back. You could tack the straps together at the back of the shoulder and then separate them as they come down the back and feed them into the loops separately. You could knot the straps together at any point in the back area then open them up and feed them through the loops.

If the straps are used to create a halter bra, you could tie a knot at the back of the neck or sew the straps together at the back of the neck. Either way, you will probably want to cut the straps off at that point unless you plan on returning the bra to its original state. If you do not want to cut the straps all the way off, you could tie it in a bow.

Another option would be to cross the straps at the neck. Then bring one end of the straps to the side of the neck, knot the straps together and bring the loose end of the strap down to the loop in the back of the bra. You also have the option of twisting the loose end along the other strap at the neck. To keep the knot in place and keep everything in place, tack the straps together. Whether you just pull the strap to one side or twist it around the other strap, do the same with the other strap on the other side of the neck. Once the straps are tied at the neck, bring the straps straight down to the loops or you could cross the straps on the way down and then slip the ties through the loops. You could also knot the straps at the neck further towards the front. That will open up the back.

You could also bring the straps down the back, feed them through the loops, tie them off under the loops and then bring the straps back up and over the shoulders to the front. At that point, you could tie the straps off at the base of the front straps or bring them down at to the neckline.

  1. Final Comments

However you arrange the straps, you want to consider what you want your bra to look like. You also need to consider if you are going to arrange rhinestones on the bra or the straps, if that is what you want to do or maybe to put flowers or a broach where you may be tying the straps. Remember, whatever you do, if you cut anything or sew pieces together, you are stuck with them. So keep that in mind when you make those kinds of changes.

All of these configurations make a top that is uniquely yours. You can use any of these configurations or mix some of them together. Be creative! See what works best for your body and just have fun.
