Daniel Kang is the owner and operator of In the Groove Studios in Oakland, California. In the Groove is the Bay Area’s center of hip hop dance classes and instruction.
Daniel truly believes that what separates them from other dance studios is that what they have is something unique and strictly exclusive. Their instructors all have their own amazing styles which stems from their true passion for dancing. Even though not everyone is technically trained or has degrees in dance, what they all do have to offer is their heart and true passion for teaching and dancing. Nothing is more sacred than that and that keeps everyone coming back for more.
His proudest moment coaching is when he has students come to take his class for the first time and they tell him how much they enjoy the class and that they want to come back. That is his proudest moment. Even if it is just one person, he knows he has made one person believe in his passion for this art.
In Daniel’s opinion, the biggest mistakes he sees dancers make is not letting go, being too shy and 
keeping themselves from learning to their fullest potential. People do not realize that when they come to take class, everyone else is there for the same reason and no one is judging you. If you come into class with an open mind, and dancing free, dancing like “no one is watching,” you will learn so much faster and it will be much more enjoyable. People do not realize this and the only way to fix it is to just keep reminding yourself that you are here to learn and have fun, and that no one is judging. The more consistent you are with taking classes, the easier it will get, and soon enough you will be that star student in the front with all eyes on you.
Daniel’s goals for this year are to have packed classes with return customers, and to bring in new faces and really expand the love of dance. It brings people together and ca honestly turn a shy person into someone they never thought they could be.
It was always Daniel’s goal to start a studio, to open one someday. He hosted a lot of classes and workshops by renting spaces, and just knew that one day he could do open his own studio.
In the Groove has two studios in Oakland, California. Also, Daniel directs his own professional dance
company, Groove Against the Machine, and a kids troop, A Tribe Called Groove.
At In the Groove, their goal is to help you become the person you aspire to be.
