Brilliant Dance Academy in Yucca Valley, California, offers dance, tumbling and cheer
classes that are solidly based on classical education and promote personal achievement in a supportive, family atmosphere. According to Lauran Callan, their owner and director, their school has two hundred students of all ages, from fifteen months of age to adult.
Their facility consists of 3,000+ square feet in space and is a modern, up to date facility consisting of four studios, sprung floors, a comfortable lobby, a snack bar, and private dressing rooms.
Their students are encouraged to develop a work ethic as a path to success and the true enjoyment of their chosen discipline. All of their students learn quickly that their school is one where they all accept and support one another. The atmosphere at their school is one of love, joy and fun.
Brilliant Dance Academy teaches classical dance education using classical music immersion and age appropriate music, lyrics and costumes. In addition to basic dance classes, Brilliant Dance offers tumbling, cheer, musical theatre, and Mommy and Me workout.
Brilliant Dance Academy’s students have earned acceptance at the Anaheim Ballet Summer Intensive Program and have danced lead roles in ballets such as Swan Lake at the Anneburg Theater in Palm Springs.
Lauran says her proudest moment as a teacher comes when her students get so lost in their performances on stage that their faces glow with joy. It makes her cry!
The biggest mistake that Lauran sees some students make is “dabbling.” Lauran describes “dabbling” as when a dancer is not investing themselves fully in what they do. She believes that they are often over-scheduled with too many activities and are over-tired and distracted in the classroom. She would like to see students choose one discipline and really study it with their full attention and commitment of purpose. In her opinion concentrating and committing on one thing is the way to get really good at anything.
Lauran’s goals for Brilliant Dance this year include expanding the number of their performances to accommodate their growing school. She is also looking at possibly entering their first competitions.
Brilliant Dance Academy was created when Lauran was given the chance to inherit the 
studio. At the time, she was a teacher there and when the opportunity came up her heart told her to go for it!
Brilliant Dance is located in a rural desert area near the Twentynine Palms Marine Base. As a result, they have a lot of military families that come to their school. Primarily due to the fact that they have parents that are leaving on deployment or returning from deployment, they have maintained parent viewing inside the classrooms so that those parents have the opportunity to observe their children. Having a family atmosphere for their military families is very important to Lauran because the families are relocated so often.

I have been with brilliant dance for a few years now and it is like a second family for my kids and I. I have tried other studios and brilliant dance is by far the best and the teachers are awesome at what they teach and Mrs. Lauran is one of the best teachers and so glad she decided to keep the studio open when she inherited it.
My daughter was heartbroken when we moved away from Yucca Valley. She truly misses her family at Brilliant Dance. I have taken classes there as well and I feel that my technique has grown by leaps and bounds because of Lauran and the other teacher there.
Two of my granddaughters and I attend this superior dance school. We all love our classes and teachers.
Brilliant Dance Studio is the best in the High Desert. As a mother and grandmother of 2 dancers, a young child and a over 30 year old daughter for a few years I can’t say enough. The technics taught are done so with such professionalism. All the teachers love what they do. I can’t praise the studio enough.
