Kincade Dance Industries was established in 2012 in Maple Grove, MN. Steve Kincade, Owner and Creative Director, dared to make his dreams come true by opening his own studio. He was driven by a passion for excellence and a desire to teach his dancers to care about the community around them. In our first year we collected PJ’s and Slippers for kids impacted by Hurricane Sandy, we participated in Toys for Tots, collected funds and participated in a Dance Project for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research Fund and collected toys for the Children’s Hospital. Two of these projects were initiated by our dancers!
Steve hired a team of committed dance professionals that shared his passion and were experts in their fields. Gina Illies was appointed the Coordinator for the Recreational Dance Program. Gina works closely with Tracy Rostamo who shares her drive for excellence in our Recreation Program. Gina and Tracy love creating a safe and happy classroom where students can grow and feel successful. Gina loves helping her shy students feel comfortable and overcome stage fright.
The Competition Division Staff include ballet masters, Pilate’s instructors and experts in multiple disciplines of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, musical theatre and more. Steve infuses his passion for training and contemporary dance throughout the studio. All of our staff received special awards this season for everything from Judges Choice, Entertainment to Top Choreography.
In the summer of 2013, KDI was awarded Top Elite Studio at our Nationals Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. We were honored to be selected as there were over 4,000 acts at the Competition. We were also nominated for the prestigious KAR TV People’s Choice Award for Judge’s Choice/Hip Hop Team. Only six teams were nominated from the entire nation and we were honored to be selected as the Top Team and winner of this award also. We are so proud of the hard work and sacrifice of each dancer. Steve Kincade and Gigi Zirbes were also won Top Competition Teacher of the Year awards.
