Summer’s DanceWorks, owned by Summer Hinton, is located in Prescott, Arizona. They offer dance classes in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, contemporary, hip hop, creative movement, musical theater, clowning, Mommy & Me, cheerleading, and swing. Additionally, partner dance lessons such as Latin, country, and more are available. Their classes range in levels from Mini (ages 2 to 5) to Advanced and their students range in age from 2 to 92! They also have their “Star” competitive dance company, which includes students who are interested in dancing on a competitive level and are considering a professional career in dance.
Summer’s DanceWorks caters to all of the dance needs in the Prescott and Tri-City community. Whether you’re a serious dancer or simply want to have fun, they can meet any and all of your expectations for dance. And, in addition to offering a wide range of classes, they offer monthly performance opportunities at regional events throughout the community. Finally, they pride themselves on bringing in master teachers on a monthly basis in order to broaden their dancers‘ exposure to all types and styles of dance.
Although many of their students have won awards and scholarships, Summer finds the most rewarding moment to be when a spark is lit or a light bulb goes off in some of my youngest dancers. It is truly rewarding to see a young dancer finally understand the meaning of “tuck under,” “turn out from your hip,” or “lift through the crown of your head!”
Summer believes that dance is a life-long journey. She tries to teach her students that each dancer progresses at a different pace. She urges her students to be patient and put in the time necessary to advance at a reasonable rate. For instance, many students come to class wanting to do multiple turns and amazing leaps without understanding the technical training necessary to execute correctly and to keep themselves healthy and injury-free.
Her goals for this year are to continue to offer quality dance education to their community. She would also like to continue to help dance and the performing arts be a strong presence in their community. Finally, they are in the process of an extensive expansion and she would like to see the completion of their 
construction process finished by Recital 2016.
Summer started Summer’s DanceWorks because she loves teaching children of all ages to dance and she saw the need for a strong, broad-based, full-service dance program in their community.
Since 1994, Summer Hinton has been teaching dancers of all ages. Her name is synonymous with high-quality dance classes and entertaining performances. She encourages and excites her students with her contagious enthusiasm and love of dance and her competition dances have always received very high scores including Top Score Awards, Top Choreographer Awards, Platinums, and “Judges Favorite Awards.” Summer’s competitive Star Company Performance groups offer dancers a chance to compete at the state and national level. Whether her students come once a week for fun and exercise or are the serious everyday dancer they receive Miss Summer’s undivided attention.
Because Summer believes in giving back to the community she is involved in many of Prescott’s charities. She has offered her talent and time in many shows and performances for many years. Also, deeply involved in Prescott’s United School District, Summer has volunteered countless hours of her teaching and choreographic talents to all the schools in PUSD.
Three weeks after graduating from Scottsdale High School, Summer was immediately hired by the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. For the next ten years, Summer danced in Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada and performed on television. She also entertained thousands of our soldiers by dancing in three USO tours from Korea to Japan.
Summer’s DanceWorks is proud of the variety of performance opportunities they offer their dancers! Earlier this month, they performed at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim, California, and at the Arizona Jazz Dance 
Showcase in Tucson, Arizona. Next month, they will compete at Starbound National Dance Competition in Phoenix, Arizona, and perform at Mortimer Farms Fall Festival in Prescott, Arizona. In December, they will participate in the Aker Musical Showcase in Prescott, Arizona, and will dance in the annual Arizona Christmas Parade in Prescott, AZ.
