The University of St. Thomas Dance Team is an integral part of the school spirit at UST. The team performs at all home football games, halftime at men’s and women’s basketball games, pep rallies, parades and other on campus and University–related events. The Tommie Dancers compete throughout the year at both regional and national competitions and have appeared at various events within the community such as the Twin Cities Marathon, Minnesota Timberwolves halftime entertainment, Minnesota Vikings halftime entertainment and Minnesota Twins pre-game entertainment. Annually, the team also hosts a dance team competition called the “Tommie Invitational,” and teaches clinics with high school dance teams around the Twin Cities. Nationally ranked since 2004, the UST Dance Team competes in the jazz and hip-hop categories at the Universal Dance Association (UDA) National College Dance Team Championships. St. Thomas has continually placed in the top two in the Open Division (DII & III), earning national champion titles in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. The competition is held at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. The Tommies earned their first back-to-back title in the open division Hip Hop category and 2nd place in the open Jazz Category at the 2015 UDA College Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida. This win makes it a 6peat and ninth championship for the program.
