14 Best Dance Studios In Chicago

This list is meant to highlight some of the awesome dance studios throughout the Chicago and in no way is meant to be a comprehensive list.  We here at BDancewear.com think that all dance studios are doing something amazing and deserve recognition!  This is a small list of some of the studios that we think are going above and beyond.  However if your studio isn’t on this list and you think it should be feel free to leave a comment or email Brittany@BDancewear.com and we would love to write an article about your dance studio.

As one of the only professional dance companies to perform year-round, Hubbard Street is continually touring nationwide and internationally. Now in its 37th year, the main company has appeared in celebrated dance venues in 44 states and 19 countries.

2. Duet Dance Studio

Duet Dance Studio offers Latin and ballroom dance lessons for fun and specializes in wedding dance lessons. In our welcoming studio, you will find learning to dance fun, relaxing and rejuvenating. Besides the sheer joy of dancing, we hope you will experience ballroom and Latin dancing as a powerful way to connect with people you care about.

3. Joe Hall Dance Center

Founded in 1974, Joel Hall Dancers & Center — a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Chicago, Illinois — relies on generous community support to fund our programming & performances. JHDC is noted for its joyous blend of jazz, ballet, modern and “street” dance techniques. Our welcoming community-based organization is historically committed to diversity & inclusion … making dance accessible to all people, in order to awaken the dancer in everyone’s soul.

4. Dance Center Chicago

Dance Center Chicago is home to ballroom dance competitors, enthusiasts, novices, freelance instructors and friends. Join us to take a class, teach a class  or to practice.

5. Chicago Dance

Since 1976, Chicago Dance has been teaching people just like you to be comfortable, composed, and confident on the dance floor. Chicago Magazine has recognized us for the Best Dance Lessons, Time Out Chicago names us a Top 12 Dance Studio, the Knot picked us as a Best of Wedding and we enjoy an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, but the accolades that mean the most to us come from YOU, our many students who have discovered how easy it is to dance.

7. The Ruth Page Center for the Arts

An incubator of artistic energy. The center of Chicago’s dance history. The Ruth Page Center for the Arts carries forward the mission and vision of its founder, international dance icon Ruth Page, to be a platform for developing great artists and connecting them with audiences and community.  With a primary focus on dance as a critical art form, its programming ensures that children and dance artists have a place to train, work and perform at the highest level of excellence. Under the aegis of The Ruth Page Foundation, a 501(c)3 private operating foundation,The Ruth Page Center has for over 43 years committed its resources to a unique combination of artistic programs that impact over 40,000 children and adults. The Center’s mission not only serves artistic development but also community development. There is no other organization like it in Chicago housed within a single entity with this history, commitment and impact. Located just steps from Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile, Chicago’s shopping, dining and cultural mecca, the historic 1927 building in which The Center resides sits on a lovely tree-lined street in the heart of the Gold Coast.

8. Collective Dance

Collective Dance Studio has been teaching the youth of Greater Chicago since 2009. We offer a wide variety of classes in many different genres for children of all ages, skill levels and abilities. We have two studios that feature multi-functional sound systems, parent viewing windows, and individual climate controls. There is also a break room and a bright naturally-lit waiting room, for siblings who may need to do homework or parents who just want to relax.

9. Glenwood Dance Studio

Glenwood Dance Studio is a nonprofit organization aimed at fostering a warm and welcoming community of dance based in the Glenwood Arts District in Rogers Park. We offer a wide variety of classes to give our students a chance to learn about different types of movement. We make it a point to welcome any dancer at any level, and our teachers are adept at adjusting classes to highlight different talents among their students. The variety of classes taught by our faculty of teachers allows students to expand their knowledge and appreciation of dance.

10. Foster Dance Studios

At Foster Dance Studios, our goal is to offer an exceptional dance education, to respect the whole individual, and to inspire all students to find the dancer within. Our studio provides flexible, open schedules and a personalized curriculum, all within a welcoming atmosphere. Just steps from the Foster El stop in Evanston, our 3,000 sq. ft. studios are easily accessible to the North Shore and Chicago.  Convenient street and lot parking are available.

11. Linda’s Dance Studio

Linda’s Dance Studio was established in 1994 to offer quality dance instruction to children, teens and adults. The studio is home to “Flores de Mexico”; a traditional folkloric dance company dedicated to preserving traditional dances of Mexico. The company, which began in 1995, is open to students of all ages and ethnic groups. The studio has also become the home of our young adult Latin dance troupe “Proyecto Latino”, and “Affinity Dance Company”, which showcases our talented students in jazz, tap, ballroom, ballet, hip-hop and musical theater productions. Together these groups have performed at many venues including Six Flags Great America, the Taste of Chicago, Univision’s “Despierta America”, WGN’s Around Town, Night of Latinos in the Arts Gala Ceremony, the Family Book and Fun Fair sponsored by Edward James Olmos, Mayor Daley’s Neighborhood Festival Kickoff, Latino Art Beat awards ceremony, and many public libraries, museums, private and public schools and churches. In June 2013, thirty-one of our dancers performed in Downtown Disney in Disney World. As we celebrate our twentieth anniversary this year, we look forward to many new and exciting opportunities for our students in the upcoming new season including a trip to Disneyland in 2015.

12. Isla Pacifika

Isla Pacifika is a Polynesian dance group based in Chicago. Our goal is to share the art and heritage of polynesian dancing through live entertainment and class instruction. Our instructors were trained in the Polynesian Islands and teach both hula and Tahitian dancing, as well as Tahitian drumming. Our hula and Tahitian dance classes offer more than a basic dance lesson. We also teach you the culture behind the dances, giving you a better understanding of polynesian dancing and the pacific islands.

13. Dance Center Evanston

The mission of Dance Center Evanston is to bring quality dance training to each student enrolled, fostering their physical health, developing their cognitive skills, and inspiring creativity and artistry.

14. Gus Giordano Dance School
