Dancer of the Week – Connor Tapp

ConnorAt the tender age of 11 years old, Conor Tapp is a model, actor, and competitive dancer. He loves to run and play basketball and works out at the YMCA. Amazingly, he is also a straight A student!

Conor got into dance when he realized that he did not really like the sports programs in which he was involved. As a result, he decided to try dance and his parents were supportive when he told them. He has been dancing ever since.

His mom, Julie, added that when Connor was 4 years old he told them, “I will dance” and there was no hesitation in his voice. The first year of dancing, he broke his leg twice. He went into the recital with only six weeks of lessons and Julie was terrified to allow him on the stage. He walked out there, did it perfectly, and has not stopped dancing sin06ce.

Conor says that his happiest moment in dance is when he went to a dance competition and a judge came up and congratulated him. The judge told Conor how good he was and how he never wanted Conor to give up on his dream.

Julie says she is proud of Connor for so many things, but that honestly the most proud she has been was when he received the lowest score he has ever gotten on stage. It is easy to be gracious when you win, but he was just as gracious when he didn’t.

According to Julie, Connor is getting to pursue so many of his dreams. He was seen by a talent scout at a Cathy Roe competition and now has representation through Heyman Talent Agency. It is neat to watch his dreams start to come true and to see him work for these goals.

Julie says she was thrilled to find BDancewear’s website. Finding costumes for Connor has been incredibly difficult and time-consuming so she ends up making a lot of them. This is my Conor’s 8th year dancing and his 6th year competing. According to Julie, Conor has NEVER had a pair of pants during that time that were not black until now! She is very impressed. Not only do the pants fit him perfectly, but the white is not see through, which was one of her biggest concerns with the costume his instructor had specified. Julie says she wishes she had found BDancewear sooner! She is thrilled to finally have someplace where she can order pants made for a boy in so many colors! Additionally, she loves their variety of options and easy to read sizing. The pants they ordered fit Connor perfectly and for the first time ever she doesn’t even have to hem his pants!!

Conors goals are to be my best at what I do and to keep improving.

Conor has always wanted to dance on a TV show. He hopes that someday dancing will take him to Broadway and/or to dance on television.

It sure looks like Conor is on his way!
