Different Styles of Dance Gloves

I am Cyndi from bdancewear.com. I am going to show you the different type of styles of dance gloves that we carry at B Dancewear. This will help you to determine what style of glove you want for the type of dance that you are doing. You can really convey a different feel depending on the style of glove that you chose.

  1. Long V-Glove

The first glove that I am going to show you is the V-Glove. The distinctive thing about the V-Glove is the fact that there is a loop that you can slip a finger into. Usually people wear it on their center finger but sometimes it is worn on a different finger or on the thumb. I am going to go ahead and put this on so you can see what it looks like.

It is really a great glove for a soft, elegant look. If your arms are not always straight, this is a great glove to kind of hide the fact that your arms are not really the way they should be.  This is the way the Long V-Glove looks.

  1. Short V-Glove

Now, if you want the Short V-Glove, is important to make sure that the top of the glove is either far enough above the elbow or below the elbow so that when you start bending your arm, the top of the glove will not start slipping down. If the top of the glove is right at the elbow, it will start slipping down on your arm.

  1. Biker Glove

One of our gloves which is very popular is our Biker Glove. The Biker Glove has a slot in the side seam for the thumb to slip through. The bottom of the glove goes straight across the fingers and then the thumb slips into the slot. This is a great glove if you want a little bit more of an edgy feel to it. The short version stops a little above the elbow and the long version is about the same length as the Long V-Glove.  If you are performing walkovers or things like that, you may not want this glove because it cuts right across the center of the palm of the hand.

  1. .Arm Sleeve

The next “glove” is the Arm Sleeve, also known as an arm band. It fits between the wrist and the elbow. This is great if you just want a little something on the arm but want your arms free for doing gymnastics or walkovers or something like that. Both the Arm Sleeve and the V Sleeve will keep your hands completely free for these activities whereas the Biker Glove cuts right across the palm of your hand.

When choosing which glove you want to use in your routine, consider the routine and what it will include. Also, make sure that you consider the material the glove is made from and that it matches your glove matches the fabric you are using in your costume. All of our gloves are available in any of our fabrics. If you choose the holographic for your gloves, they are going to be pretty bright and shiny. However, if you get the Lycra, it could match exactly. Something to think about is maybe having the glove made from the mesh or the lace because they have a lighter feel. On the other hand, a glove made from velvet will definitely have a little bit heavier look to it. So think about your costume and what look is right for that particular costume. Also, think about what fabric will give you the look you are trying to achieve.

Lastly, whether you purchase your gloves from B Dancewear or somewhere, no matter what the style you want to make sure they has elastic at the top so that the glove stays up comfortably.
