Industry Dance AwardsPremiere Dance Academy in, Prior Lake, MN, is a family owned business that features highly qualified professional instructors, innovative choreography and award winning competitive lines all within a beautiful state of the art studio. It is owned by mom and daughters – Dawn Schulberg, Cassie Norgren, and Callie Schulberg. They are the proud winner of the 2014 People’s Choice Award given at the Industry Dance Award Ceremony in Hollywood, and most recently nominated in 2015 as well. Premiere Dance Academy students have won many awards and recognition for their routines. They are proud of each and every student, teacher and choreographer for all of the outstanding work and efforts made every year at the recitals and competitions. Premiere Dance Academy offers competitive and non-competitive classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Pointe, Boys Jazz Funk, Kickline, Technique, Dads n Dollz and a fantastic Pre-School program.

Premiere Dance Academy offers a warm and welcoming studio for all ages and abilities. Ballet RecitalThey know their students and most of their families which is important to Premiere Dance and their students. They believe each dancer is important and unique and they truly enjoy learning about each dancer and their needs. Knowing who their students are and what they are seeking separates them from other studios.

Dawn, Cassie and Callie’s proudest moment occurred recently. Their husband and father passed away last year. He was an incredible man who loved his family and was so proud of the studio and the dancers. With great strength and emotion, they choreographed a dance in his honor and it was recognized and awarded a Directors Choice Award. It was a touching moment for everyone and they know he would have been thrilled! That is what keeps them moving forward. They will continue to do what he was so proud of.

The biggest mistakes they see dancers make has to do with focus and technique. As the dance world changes, they see dancers spend time working on fancy tricks and impressive moves rather than focusing on the technique and basics that are so vital to dance. Tricks are fun and can bring a dance to a new level “WOW,” but should not be at the expense of technique.

The Academy’s goal is to focus and recognize the needs of each dancer, whether they are recreational dancers who want to learn and grow or competitors who strive to bring their passion to the competition stage. It’s all about every student that walks through their door. They want them to reach their utmost potential and go out into the world with enthusiasm, confidence, drive and passion for whatever they choose to do in life.

Dawn stated she and her daughters started Premiere Dance Academy because they had a dream to inspire children and young adults to become the best they can be through the beauty of dance. Their sense of individuality, creativity, and work ethic along with their strong family values is what motivated them to open their studio. They work hard to bring out the best in each student and believe it is an honor to teach them. The Production 2015accomplishments and rewards of success in any manner are incredibly meaningful to them and to their students.

Their Dads n Dollz class involves over 200 Daddies that dance with their Daughters (that’s a total of 400 on stage!!). It is an incredible experience to watch the connection and bond between the Dads and their Daughters and how much respect and love that they have for each other. They are devoted Dads who would drop anything to be with their daughters!!

Dawn, Cassie and Callie encourage their dancers to participate in community events and fundraisers to help others. They are a Circle of Hope studio that donates to the foundation “Dancers Against Cancer” and are proud to help that very important cause. They encourage their dancers to become great citizens and make a difference in the world however small that difference might be.
